Paul Smith, a final year design student at the University of Derby in England, designed a bike that can double as a generator.
The concept called Navitas, would be the first to create its own renewable energy using both the sun and wind. The rear wheels splits 3 ways to become a vertical axis turbine to generate wind power. There is also a compact solar panel which provides charge to the on-board 24V battery. The battery provides power through a 12V cigarette lighter socket and USB hub.
“It’s purely for the cyclist adventurer who likes to pedal around the country but also likes a bit of creature comfort,” says Paul.
