Telsa Motors is accepting reservations for their 2008 model year cars which are fully electric and stated to accelerate from 0-60 in about 4 seconds. The car gets 250 miles per charge and has a top speed of 130mph. The batteries will only take 3.5 hours to charge.
To operate the car, it’ll only cost about 1 cent per mile (equivalent to 135 miles per gallon). Very cheap in comparison to how much the car is expected to cost. Prices are reported to start in the $80-120,000 range. Ouch.
According to CEO Martin Eberhard, Telsa is aiming to produce a $50,000 electric sedan by 2009.
