ZAP has just announced a partnership with China Youngman Automotive Group to produce the Alias, which is a $30,000 electric vehicle to be available as early as 2009.
Even though the car manufacturer has yet to produce a prototype for Alias, Zap believes that it can produce a pure electric vehicle by the specified time frame because of how fast automotive technology is advancing. The three-wheeled Alias would be powered by two in-wheel 320-horsepower motors to take the car from 0 to 60 in 6 seconds. It’s also estimated to go 150 miles on a single charge.
ZAP is quite hopeful to get this vehicle on the market by 2009 and has recently made an invitation to their suppliers to obtain affordable pricing on parts.
