Are you planning activities that will take you outdoors? From hiking to biking to a simple picnic, you’ll probably want to make sure it won’t rain. But don’t forget to check the air quality forecast, as well. Poor air quality can put a crimp in your plans just as easily as a downpour.
If you’re planning physical activities, air quality issues can cause respiratory distress. Poor air quality can also decrease visibility. If photography will be an important part of your activities, they’re unlikely to turn out clearly when the air is poor.
The Weather Channel’s Air Quality Report is a great resource. It’s searchable by state. It then lists all the towns where air quality data is generated in your state’s entire region. For instance, Arizona is grouped with New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas to comprise the southwest region.
It gives the forecasted air quality and principal pollutant information for that day and the next. It also provides warnings associated with the various air quality indices. That will help you make an informed decision before finalizing your outdoor plans.
