No Need for Batteries with the DORmino Mouse

Talk about conserving power just a bit more, the DORmino concept delivers a oversized mousepad to soap warmth emitted from your computer to collect as power. Embedded electronics convert the heat and transmit to power a wireless mouse. Using this method, there would be no need to recharge dead batteries or contribute further to electronic waste (e-waste).

The concept comes from Cheong Yian Ling and his team in Singapore, which submitted their design to the Greener Gadgets Design Competition in 2008.

  1. Genius, I love it.

  2. Ummm…. why not just use a wired optical mouse then?
I mean, it has to be right next to the computer anyways in this case, or else the mouse wouldn’t be able to recieve the heat energy…

  3. In the end, the DORmino mouse is conserving energy by not drawing additional power from the computer via a wired optical mouse or a battery-powered wireless mouse which draws energy from the battery. The DORmino mouse would work by taking wasted heat energy from the computer and converting it into a usable energy to power the mouse.
