Sustainable Umbrella

Yanko Design tries to reinvent the umbrella by making it environmentally friendly. How so?

The “Melt” umbrella is made of biodegradable materials, consisting of waterproof garden film and waxed cardboard or bamboo for the canopy and frame. It’s claimed if given the correct conditions, it will melt into the soil - enough to start a small garden. And get this, seeds are stored in the handle which can be returned for a discount for a new umbrella or of course, recycled.

The first concern that comes to mind, is what are those ‘correct conditions’ for the umbrella to biodegrade and how stable will it hold up to a downpour or wind? I would definitely want to test one of these out in a shower first!
