While perusing Sam’s Club a while back, I stumbled across an eco-friendly laundry detergent and decided to give it a try. We’ve been using it about 2-3 months now and I have not found any cause for disappointment. If soap nuts don’t do it for you, you might find ECOS by Earth Friendly Products a more convenient alternative.
From the Bottle ECOS low sudsing Liquid Laundry Detergent is 100% biodegradable, contains no phosphate, formaldehyde or petrochemicals, is plant-based (from coconut oil), has a neutral pH, and comes in a recyclable bottle with a recyclable cap. In addition, it is greywater and septic tank safe. The product is free of 1,4-Dioxane. The 6.21 L bottle will do 105 regular or 210 HE (high efficiency) loads of laundry.
From my Experience It is indeed a very low sudsing cleanser, but the clothes get very clean. I was a little worried that the lavender scent would be a problem, since I am very fragrance-sensitive and I’m not a huge fan of lavender, but it has exactly the right amount to just leave the clothes smelling fresh, but not perfumed. A little bit of this soap does a lot. I don’t know how many loads we’ve done so far, but I would estimate more than 100, and we haven’t even used half the bottle.
