Another solar powered gadget has entered the environmental market, this time from Media Street in the form of a solar media player.
The eMotion EM-SOL1GIG opens like a notebook to expose a pair of solar panels that only need about 2-3 hours in the sun to charge the player’s lithium-ion battery and yield a lengthy 15 hours of music playback.
The player is capable of handling MP3, WMA, WAV, AVI and MPEG-4 video files and comes with a game emulator that will run NES, GameBoy and Sega game ROMs. In addition, the 3.5-inch display has a photo viewer, TXT file reader and LED flashlight.
Unfortunately the model can only store up to 1GB of data but a 4GB version will soon be out. eMotion is currently priced at $149, but expect the next release to be priced at a higher set point of $185.
