These cute little Sun Jars were invented by Tobias Wong, made essentially from a Mason jar containing a solar cell, a rechargeable battery and an energy-saving LED lamp. Once placed in sunlight, the solar cell inside the Sun Jar charges the battery to use at night to power the LED lamp.
At night, the frosted jar gives off a warm glow available in a selection in blue or orange, to give a nice wonderful light alternative for your backyard.
Apparently making a Sun Jar isn’t hard at all and could be a wonderful DIY project home for yourself or with the kids. You can make a home-made version by following the directions on the Instructables’ website or if you really don’t want to bother, they are also sold on Amazon for about $44.
