“Greener” Toilet Paper and Tissues

Did you know that if every family in the United States bought just one roll of recycled toilet paper (just once!), it would save 400,000 trees.  If you are going to use paper products, obviously it’s much greener to use toilet paper, tissues and paper towels that are made out of recycled paper instead of trees.

Not sure if your toilet paper or tissues are earth friendly?  Greenpeace has created a tissue guide.  The tissues are rated based on the following criteria

  • Is it made of 100% recycled content
  • Is it made of least 50% post-consumer recycled content
  • Is it bleached without toxic chlorine compounds

The guide rates toilet paper, paper towels,  and facial wipes by giving them a grade from dark green for the best to red for for the worst.

According to the GreenPeace website:

“You can search by either company, product type or both. Just use the drop-down menus to make your selection.”
