Solar Green Home Arrives On Trucks

Green homes delivered to you! PowerHouse Enterprises has developed a modular home that incorporates green elements into its design, including a solar butterfly roof that collects rainwater. There are also solar panels for electricity and hot water.

The modular home called the PowerPod can be transported using two trailers to the destined site for assembly. It will measure 480 square feet, including a living, dining, kitchen area that opens into a front porch. Cost of the PowerPod? Approximately $100,000.

There is also a larger modular home that comes equipped with a key design element of a metal roof served to heat the house during winter by absorbing heat and generating electricity. Plastic water tubes are under the roof, where water is heated by the sun and distributed through the house to supply hot water and warm the house.
