Greenopolis Sustainable Living Community

There is a new website (still in beta) that has created a community solely geared towards helping members connect with each other and find novel ways to live more eco-friendly. To get involved, registered visitors complete a survey to analyze their day-to-day activities to determine their individual green lifestyle level. Based on their results, users receive a colored badge to show other members just how eco-friendly they really are, i.e. orange badge holders need to do their green homework and solid green badge holders are right on track.

By participating on the site, users are awarded points which are displayed openly to other members. Of course, the points you earn help change your badge color. When the site officially debuts, the points can be used to receive discounts on sustainable products.

The service allows members to meet like-minded individuals concerned about the environment, obtain suggestions and ideas to help the planet and redeem points for discounts and savings at partner companies. And another benefit….the service will even allow individuals to sell their products in their Galleria.

  2. [...] For the green competitor: Greenopolis. Got a competitive streak? Then Greenopolis is for you — because this site’ll survey you and test you on your greenness — then put a color-coded badge on your profile so all can see how green you are. Go greener, and you earn points to improve your badge color. The site’s still in beta though, so the community isn’t very big yet. (via got2begreen) [...]
