If you live in the New York Metro area you may want to set aside Saturday, August 22nd. Rooftop Films, a promoter of independant and underground films, has organized a screening on the Beach at Governor’s Island of “End of the Line”.
End of the Line is the world’s first major documentary about the devastating effect of overfishing. Directed by Rupert Murray, this film is as visually stunning as it is informative. Premiering at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, it marked the launch of a worldwide campaign for regulation to save one of our great sources of food. Few know that as recent as 1990, the world nearly lost the Atlantic Cod to overfishing. Today other species are dangerously close to the same fate.
You will not find a better venue to experience this film. Doors open at 8:00PM and the festivities include refreshments, music and education activities. For more information and ticks, click here.
