Solar Powered Backpack

A backpack that’s also a mobile power generator! This is a backpack with 3 solar panels embedded in the outside. The panels are lightweight and waterproof and they generate up to 4 watts of power. It’s great for charging cell phones, PDAs, GPSs, iPods, cameras etc. so you’re not tied to a power outlet. The bag includes a Li Ion battery pack. This battery pack stores surplus power. As a result, power is available when you need it, not just when the sun is up. In addition, the bag can be charged using a car charge or an AC travel charger, both of which are included. It’s perfect as a large daypack or can be used as a weekend hike bag.

  1. Hey! Thanks for the great info, a solar backpack is a really great idea! I was browsing through a bunch of green websites and blogs and I came across yours and found it very interesting. There are a bunch of others I like too, like the daily green, ecorazzi and I especially like’s carbon calculator ( I find it really easy to use (it doesn’t make me feel guilty after I take it). Are there any others you would recommend? Can you drop me a link to your favorites (let me know if they are the same as mine).

  2. I showed this backpack to several young friends of mine
and they really loved it. A couple asked me how much
they cost. That is one for the manufacturer to answer
I guess unless you have some idea.
Tierney lab on the NY Times might be able to assist Jason
in the above comment with what he is looking for.

  3. Apologies to Jordan. Must have heard Jason Giambi’s name
    on tv during Yankee game.
